Back to School Night Video Link

I wanted to invite parents to participate in our virtual Back to School Night on Wednesday evening, August 11th, 2021. The event takes place in two stages. First, parents can watch prerecorded presentations from us teachers at 5pm. I have uploaded my recording to Google Classroom. You can also view it by clicking this link. You will want to watch the presentation along with Mr. Strub’s presentation by 5:30pm. Then, from 6:00-6:30pm, Mr. Strub and I will co-host a Q&A Zoom meeting. I have sent the Zoom meeting information to you via email and the Remind app. Please email me at timothy_parker@etiwanda.org if you have not received the Zoom link.
Hope to see you there!

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Parker

I graduated from Cal State Stanislaus with a bachelors degree in Social Science and later received my Masters in Education Administration degree from Cal State San Bernardino.

The 2021-2022 school year is my 19th year teaching and my 18th in the district, all the time here at EIS. I love sports, reading about history and political science and going to plays. I have recently taken up hiking and hope to do a lot more.

My wife and I, both natives of northern California (home of Giants baseball and 49ers football!) and are blessed to have two healthy, active sons. We love the outdoors, especially Lake Tahoe. We were able to get out this summer ti the East coast to see a number of our nation's historical shrines and landmarks. It was an exquisitely moving experience to visit so many significant sites, including the National Archives (the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution), the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 monument, and the Gettysburg Battlefield.

I lived in the Philippines for two years and speak a language called Cebuano/Visayan. If you hear me using exotic words, I have probably, inadvertently lapsed into that tongue. :-)

My mission for the class?

We are looking past this year to a time when you will all enter a cutting-edge workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills to contribute to this world. We will learn to follow through on our obligations, to work with peers, and to push ourselves a little bit farther each day than we did the day before. You can do hard things – I know it.

Personal aside: No one hates social studies - just social studies books. I hope you walk out of my class next spring with a keen interest in humanity's exhilarating story.
