Hello

Olivia Tawekjian

(Miss Tawekjian)

Hello! Welcome to 8th grade ELA and Social Studies. A little about me…I studied at the University of La Verne and earned my Bachelor’s in Educational Studies and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I am now in school to receive my Master's Degree in Education at the University of La Verne. I grew up in the Etiwanda School District myself and am proud to say I’m still a part of this amazing district and family. I come from a family of educators so I like to say that teaching is in my blood! My mom, Kim, is a retired teacher (also from the Etiwanda School District) and she now helps my dad, John, run his business, which is a mechanic shop. That's where my love for cars comes from! My younger sister is currently completing her undergrad at the University of La Verne to also be a teacher.

I love to make learning engaging and fun using a positive and accepting classroom environment with lots of collaboration and teamwork. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with all of my students, parents, and families. Please be sure to have access to your email or Rooms to receive important updates about upcoming events or assignments happening in class and on campus. I can't wait to learn more about all of you throughout the year.

Elective: Dance

In this elective you will be studying various genres of dance and their histories! We'll watch lots of videos from popular TV shows so you are able to see these genres and how they have evolved to become what they are today. Shows like "Dancing With the Stars", "World of Dance", and "So You Think You Can Dance" all provide a great look into the dance world and its wide range of genres and talents. You'll have the opportunity to write about these videos we watch and do lots of other fun, engaging, and active activities. I grew up a competitive dancer myself and still teach at a studio. I'm going on 20 years of dance so I'm very excited to be teaching one of my passions and sharing it with you all as well.
